I picked up this cozy fleece as a remnant on clearance over a month ago for $3 for a yard. At the time, I didn't know if our baby would be a boy or a girl...but I knew that this fabric was just too sweet to pass up!
Well...it just so happened that last week we found out that Baby G is a GIRL! I'm thrilled...for a million different reasons. {But I'd be lying if I didn't say that a teensy, small, bottom of the list reason is that I got to put this adorable baby girl fabric to use!}
So now that the cat's out of the bag, onto the project. In our house, we have started referring to sleeper sacks as the "Daddy Suit."
My sweet husband said he is going to exclusively dress the baby in these one piece suits...a "one and done" approach, with no matching, multiple parts, or needing to remember socks. Just wiggle the baby in, zip it up, and ouila! So in order to maintain my sanity and make sure our sweet baby isn't running around in just a diaper...I decided to try my luck at making one myself.
I used Simplicity Pattern #5720 (which I bought during a $1 pattern sale) & it was a lot easier than expected!
It was my first attempt at tackling a zipper. I will admit I was Love the built in mittens that will keep those teeny little fingers all warm and cozy.
So for $4 and a little help from Mom, we have our first Daddy Sack. This was so simple, that I can't wait to pick up some more fabric to whip up a few more. Daddy can thank me later.
Now all that's missing is the sweet, baby girl.
